As you will see in a minute, I am a real novice to all this computer music stuff.

I recently purchased a M-Tron VST from www.gmediamusic.com.
I have a pentium III computer equipped with Windows 98 & the following audio device:

The Audio device on my PC is Yamaha DS-XG Audio CODEC

My goal is to be able to play the mellotron in realtime. I am not big into computer recording but would like to be able to use the thing.

As I am not very technical i would rather not interfere with the inside of the computer i.e. by replacing the soundcard but I know that I need a compatible VST 2.0 host that supports VST instruments. Can I do this via a USB port is the UASC-1 going to solve my problem ? Is there another alternative ?

I am not too concerned about cost though I would rather not pay a fortune. My main priority is to figure out a way in which this can work.

Can anyone answer this question ?
I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks

Barry

Yea the UASC will make your computer a live synth.

I use it with several VST's and it's great.. no lag time at all ( well that's noticable ) I use it with Reason, Project 5, and all my sound applications.

It's turned my laptop and my peice of crap keyboard into a great synth for both recording and live performances.
